The ‘wild west’ in me

How America got Americanized? well it was just the east coast first… a ‘New’ York for the York in the England etc., a New World… then came the ‘Taming of the Western Wilderness’… I would say this is where the American mindset took its root. You explore, you find and you keep… finders keepers… huh? I sometimes think about these lonely people on horseback and guns enough to disintegrate a small town, roaming in the wild wild west and trying to bring semblance of order.. and the one thing I liked the most is how they made the western shoes to fit the needs rather than luxury… It has been a childish childhood dream of mine to own a cowboy boot… and recently when I happened to be in the same Wild West, I bought one… in the process I did a lot of research on this boot. We think its fancy to wear 13″ shaft leather with 1 and 3/4″ heel made of stacked leather… surprise… the leather heel is used to slide smoothly in and out of the stirrups of the saddle and the 13″ shaft protects you from all the bushes they had to travel in those days and avoid being bitten to death by god-knows-what insect or snake… the heel shape itself is functional, so that when the feet is the stirrup, the heel prevents from the foot going entirely inside the stirrup and ending up like a hand(leg?)cuff. And why leather heel? thats because it endures… why no laces? when you are off the back off the horse when the horse wants to have a go at you, you don’t really have time to undo your laces to get your feet when its stuck… or do you?

I like the feel and the feeling it brings me… the wildness in me… that i’m a wanderer with no care in the world… I acquired the one which is shown in the pic…

If anyone reading this want inputs on how to buy one of those, drop me a comment.. will share the research I did…
